Another Roadblock in the Effort to Help the Homeless

  Canandaigua- Members of the Canandaigua City Zoning Board of Appeals upheld a previous decision by the city zoning officer that St. John’s Episcopal Church needs a permit to utilize St. John’s rectory as a day center for homeless families last night.  The permit was denied last year by the city Planning Commission.  Last night's ruling by the ZBA was based on the interpretation of zoning code.  This is another road block in the efforts of St. John’s and The Rev. David Hefling.

On Monday, July 9th, 10 teenagers from across the city arrived at SMSJ to begin their summer internship experience in their EDEN gardens. Over the next 6 weeks, the interns will be working to maintain the gardens and share SMSJ’s vision of a happy, healthy, connected community with their Beechwood neighbors.

Presiding Bishop and Primate Resting After Surgery

[July 31, 2018]  Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael Curry is resting comfortably following surgery on Tuesday, July 31.   According to the Presiding Bishop's family and his medical team, the surgery went well, as had been expected. Bishop Curry is resting, and a full recovery continues to be anticipated.   On July 25 Presiding Bishop Curry shared news that he had recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and would be having surgery to remove the prostate gland.

A Graduation!!!

Parish members throughout EDOR attended and graduated from the College for Congregational Development at the Notre Dame Retreat Center on Canandaigua Lake. Last week's studies completed part 2 of the college, teaching how to understand specific identities of congregations, and how to market congregations to others in your community.  We are all Anglicans,  but what does that mean in your specific community?  It's all about growing faithful, sustainable congregations in numbers, missional leadership, and spirituality.

Presiding Bishop to have Surgery for Prostate Cancer

"Dear Friends in Christ, A few months ago, through my annual physical, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After a variety of tests, consultations, and conversations with my wife and daughters, I decided on a surgical treatment course. On this coming Tuesday, July 31st, I will have surgery to remove the prostate gland.
