“How do you follow in the way of love in a world that is unloving?” With this question Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, began his homily for the 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church’s Opening Eucharist. The jumping off point of his homily was John 15, where Jesus speaks of himself as the vine, and we the branches. He then went on to ask if we heard what Jesus was whispering there in John’s Gospel. “Did you hear it?” he asked. “I think Jesus is talking about the Episcopal Church.

ROC Episcopal General Convention 2018

The General Convention began this week, and is the governing body of The Episcopal Church that meets every three years. It is a bicameral legislature that includes the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops, composed of deputies and bishops from each diocese. During its triennial meeting deputies and bishops consider a wide range of important matters facing the Church.

WATCH: Our Diocese Praying for Separated Families

On Thursday June 21, the staff of our diocese traveled to Syracuse, NY to pray with the Episcopal Diocese of Central New York. Bishop DeDe Duncan-Probe presided over a service at Christ Church in Manlius, NY, praying for the separated families crossing the border.  Bishop Prince Singh gave the sermon, and is highlighted in this news story by Spectrum News in Central New York.
