You're invited - Book Study / Unsettling Truths

Dear friends,

Many of you attended the October 24th diocesan presentation of "Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery" with authors Mark Charles and Soong- Chan Rah. The presentation allowed for a little bit of Q & A in the chat room, but some of us are looking for more in- depth conversation about the book.

The RRHJ (Racial Reconciliation, Healing, and Justice Committee) invites you to a book study of "Unsettling Truths" which we will lead on Thursday, January 28th, from 5 - 6:30 pm. All are welcome, but we ask that you read the book and/or familiarize yourself with

some of its themes, particularly, "Constantine and Christendom," and, of course, the Doctrine of Discovery.

The book, as its title suggests, is full of unsettling truths, but truths that we as Church cannot afford to ignore. It is our hope that this conversation will guide us toward the "re- conciliation" of which the authors write.

Faithfully,
The Rev. Ruth Ferguson
The Rev. Melanie Duguid-May Nicole Hercules
