Book Study - May 20

The Racial Reconciliation, Healing, and Justice committee is inviting you to read the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson, followed by a book study and discussion.

Isabel Wilkerson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal, is also the author the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller The Warmth of Other Suns.

We offered a Diocesan-wide book study and discussion on May 6.  The second gathering on Zoom is on May 20, 5-6p.  


To our Participants.
Please, if able, read Chapter 11, Dominant Group Status Threat and the Precarity of the Highest Rung.  A brief summary will be given and then we will break out into rooms to get a deeper understanding of this chapter. If you can not read this chapter beforehand, we encourage you to still participate. Format for discussion will be as follows:

What is your experience and “take” on the display of the dominant group status threat?

How can we as the people in a nation live independent of unconscious ethnic bias?
What can be done to close the ancient  gap between the wealth of the dominant group and the less privileged group?
