Help Needed with Meals & Fellowship at RIT/NTID Campus Ministry

Registration Open for October 17 Anti-Racism Training

The Anti-Racism Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester will offer its next training on October 17, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. The training will be held at St. Michael's, Geneseo, and is open to all clergy, elected and appointed lay leaders, those in the process for ordination to the diaconate or priesthood, delgates and deputies to Convention, and to all interested persons. If you have taken Anti-Racism training before (in the Diocese of Rochester or elsewhere), there is no need to attend.

This Fall brings new - and familiar - faces to the Diocese of Rochester

The Rev. Jay Peter Burkhardt will serve as the new Assistant Rector at St. Paul’s, Rochester. His first Sunday will be Sept. 13, 2015. Born and raised in the Rochester area, Burkardt has served churches and schools in Corpus Christi, TX, and in Greensboro and Concord, NC. He and his wife, Leslie, who is also an Episcopal priest, met while in seminary in Austin, TX.

Summer Worship at St. Andrew's by the Lake

Sunday morning brought gorgeous weather to St. Andrew's Chapel by the Lake in Webster - and with it arrived a small crowd of Episcopalians seeking to start their day with worship in the quaint space. The chapel, a ministry of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Webster, dates back to 1848 and was built as a one-room schoolhouse. Services are being held on Sundays at 9 a.m. until September 6th. The chapel is also used by Good Shepherd for Christmas morning and Easter Vigil services.

Change-Ringing Bells Arriving in Rochester

The autumn of 2015 will be the beginning of a new musical experience for Rochester. Ten bells hung for change ringing will be installed at Church of the Ascension on Lake Avenue, in the Maplewood neighborhood. The bells will ring on Sunday mornings to call the congregation to worship, and they may ring for special occasions (weddings, funerals, and celebrations). They will not ring tunes, they will ring changes — that is, permutations on the order of the bells.
