Bishop Singh to take summer sabbatical

ROCHESTER - The Rt. Rev. Prince G. Singh, Eighth Episcopal Bishop of Rochester, will take a three-month sabbatical this summer. Beginning in mid-June and ending in mid-September, the sabbatical is offered to all bishops in the Church upon completing their fifth year of service to a diocese. Bishop Singh will use this time to deepen his relationship with Christ and to participate in missional opportunities.

Congregational Development Update: Council Approves Grant for St. George’s, Hilton

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - In its ongoing work to support congregational development in the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester, Diocesan Council has approved a 2013 Congregational Development Grant for St. George’s Episcopal Church in Hilton. The $50,000 grant, which supports St. George’s hiring of a full-time rector, is a continuation of funding received by the church in 2012.

In the first Joint Meeting of Diocesan Council, Standing Committee and Trustees on Jan. 12, 2013, members of these diocesan leadership teams, Bishop Prince Singh and the Bishop’s staff discussed the strategy and vision of the Diocese of Rochester in this year and the years to come. As part of their conversation, the groups examined their canonical duties in the Diocese.

Gruberth to move on from ACEM, Diocese of Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Very Rev. Cole Gruberth, Dean of the Southwest District and Priest-in-Charge of  Allegany County Episcopal Ministry, will soon transition from these roles as he and his family move to Central New York. Gruberth, who joined the Diocese in 2010, intends to pursue bivocational work in Ithaca, N.Y., where he has just accepted a secular position at Ithaca College.
