Today is the fourteenth anniversary of the US led invasion of Afghanistan. There are lessons to learn. The violence around us and within us should cause us to pause and take stock of our participation in projects of objectification. I grieve for our world where we lose sight of the dignity of human beings who are objectified enough to become dispensable. They are refugees, people who live far away, people we take for granted, migrant workers, young black men and women, the Dalits (outcastes) of our world, doctors without borders (victims of collateral damage) or ________ - fill in the blank.

Staffing Changes to Keep Valued Staff, Redefine Priorities

After significant engagement in analysis, technical reviews with Human Resource experts and after prayerful discernment, we have come to a few conclusions as a way to move forward. These conclusions include not making any new hires and not letting go of any of our valued staff, but to redefine priorities.

Summer Has Been a Time for Important Work

Summer has also offered us the opportunity to continue important work within our diocese. Over the past few months we have had several initiatives of thoughtful engagement. These have included issues such as health insurance, staffing assessment (I will have information on this next week), stewardship of 935 East Ave., a rural health mission in Belmont, and more.
