SW and SE Districts Team Up for Combined Leadership Retreat

“Leading the Witness,” a leadership and vestry retreat, promises to be fun and formational.

Corning, NY, February 10, 2018: Vestry Members, Key Leaders, and Clergy from various parishes across the Southwest and Southeast Districts will gather on Saturday, February 10th to participate in a day-long retreat on parish leadership strategies. The workshop which is called “Leading the Witness” will focus on techniques for tapping into personal narratives to strengthen and inform leadership within the parish. This event is being held at the Radisson Inn in downtown Corning. The gathered group will enjoy food, fellowship, and worship in addition to receiving instruction on vestry and church leadership protocol and best practices. The facilitators will also be helping attendees to look to their own spiritual autobiography as a resource for resolving conflict, discerning gifts, and helping to spread the Good News. A similar event was held last year, and the parishes found it edifying and enjoyable, so it was decided that it should be an annual occurrence. The date in early February was chosen so that is would fall shortly after most parishes annual meetings and vestry and leadership elections. The venue was chosen to allow for overnight accommodations for those who would like them and because of the ease of access to Corning from all points in the participating districts. There are still some spots available and tickets, which cost $40 and include two meals and a snack, are available by contacting SW District Dean, The Very Rev. J. Eric Thompson. Anybody, from any parish, anywhere in the Diocese is welcome to attend.
