Trinity, Geneva, to explore Bible in upcoming year

Seeking a deeper understanding of the scriptures, Trinity Episcopal Church in Geneva, N.Y., will begin The Bible Challenge in early January. The challenge, which began at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Fort Washington, Penn., provides a framework for exploring the entirety of the Bible (minus Apocrypha) in a single year.

The Rev. Karen Lewis, Priest in Charge at Trinity, said she has developed resources like bookmarks to help her congregation with the challenge. She is making those resources available to any parish or person interested in joining Trinity in this effort.

“As Episcopalians, we often talk about a three-legged stool that supports our faith: scripture, reason and tradition,” Rev. Lewis said. “The Bible Challenge will give Trinity and myself the chance to better ground our faith in the upcoming year.”

Rev. Lewis intends to blog about Trinity’s progress in this endeavor. For more information about The Bible Challenge, visit http://thecenterforbiblicalstudies.org/what-is-the-bible-challenge/
